BlueRobin is a neighbourhood support service operated by BlueRobin Inc., a corporation based in Shallow Lake, Ontario. We provide in-home assistance, companionship, errands, transportation support, and related services to individuals and families in Grey County and the surrounding Georgian Bay area.
By booking a visit, creating an account, or using our website at bluerobin.ca, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
2. Eligibility
Our services are available to individuals aged 18 and over. Clients may book visits on behalf of family members. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep that information current.
3. Nature of Services
BlueRobin helpers are independent contractors coordinated by BlueRobin. We do not provide medical, nursing, personal support worker (PSW), legal, or financial services. Our helpers are not licensed health care professionals and are not a substitute for regulated care. Any health-related information shared during a visit is treated as context only — never as medical advice or documentation.
4. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. BlueRobin is not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized account access due to your failure to protect your login information. You agree not to share your account with others or use another person's account without their express permission.
5. Pricing and Taxes
All prices are in Canadian dollars. HST (13%) applies to service fees and equipment fees where applicable. Travel mileage is charged at the CRA prescribed rate ($0.72/km as of 2025) and is not subject to HST. Subscription plan fees include HST in the stated monthly price. BlueRobin's HST registration number is 849835988 RT 0001.
6. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or by a notice on the site. Continued use of our services after such notice constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
7. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
Privacy Policy
1. Our Commitment
BlueRobin is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Ontario's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). We collect only what we need, use it only for the purposes described here, and do not sell your information to anyone.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Account information: Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and home address.
Family member information: Names, dates of birth, addresses, and health notes you choose to share for additional family members you add to your account.
Booking information: Visit dates, times, service requests, helper notes, visit summaries, and photos taken during a visit (where you have consented).
Payment information: Encrypted payment card details stored and processed by Stripe, Inc. BlueRobin stores only the card brand and last four digits for display purposes. We never store full card numbers.
Communications: Messages sent through the portal between you and BlueRobin staff.
Usage data: Anonymous site analytics (pages visited, session duration) to improve our service. No third-party advertising trackers are used.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
Schedule, coordinate, and confirm visits;
Process payments and issue receipts;
Send appointment reminders and service communications;
Maintain records required for HST compliance;
Improve our services and respond to your requests.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
4. Who We Share Information With
We share your information only with the third-party service providers required to operate our platform:
Supabase (database and authentication — servers in Canada/US);
Stripe, Inc. (payment processing — subject to Stripe's own Privacy Policy);
Resend (transactional email delivery);
Google (calendar integration for helper scheduling).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.
5. SMS Consent
If you opt in to SMS notifications, we may send appointment reminders and service updates to the phone number on your account. Message and data rates may apply. You may withdraw SMS consent at any time by updating your account settings or contacting us at hello@bluerobin.ca.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a minimum of seven years thereafter to meet our tax and business record obligations under the Income Tax Act and the Excise Tax Act. You may request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us; note that we may be required to retain certain records by law.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. You may also withdraw consent to certain uses of your data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@bluerobin.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Ad-hoc Clients
More than 48 hours before the visit: Your deposit will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee (to cover credit card transaction costs) to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.
Less than 48 hours before the visit: Your deposit is forfeited. No refund will be issued. This policy exists because short-notice cancellations prevent us from filling that time slot and fairly compensating our helpers.
No-show: If you are not available at the agreed location and time without prior notice, the full deposit is forfeited.
Subscription Clients (Good Roots & Deep Roots)
More than 48 hours before the visit: The hours reserved for that visit are returned to your plan immediately. No action is required on your part.
Less than 48 hours before the visit: The hours reserved for that visit are forfeited and will not be credited back to your plan.
Unused plan hours do not carry over between billing cycles unless explicitly agreed in writing by BlueRobin.
Exceptional Circumstances
We understand that emergencies happen. Cancellations due to documented medical emergencies, severe weather making travel unsafe, or other circumstances beyond your reasonable control will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at hello@bluerobin.ca as soon as possible with relevant details.
BlueRobin-Initiated Cancellations
If BlueRobin cancels a visit due to helper illness, unforeseen circumstances, or events beyond our control, you will receive a full refund of any deposit paid, or full credit restoration if you are a subscriber. We will notify you as early as possible and work to reschedule at your convenience.
Subscription Cancellations
You may cancel your subscription plan at any time through the Account & Billing section of your portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No partial-month refunds are issued. Any remaining hours in that billing cycle remain available until the cycle ends.
Booking Policy
Minimum Notice
All bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance. We are unable to accommodate same-day requests through the online portal. For urgent requests, contact us directly at (226) 898-3438 and we will do our best to assist.
Minimum Visit Duration
Ad-hoc and overflow visits have a one-hour minimum. Time is billed in full-hour increments only — there is no partial-hour billing. Subscription hours are deducted in the same manner.
Deposits
A deposit of $20 per hour (no HST) is required at the time of booking for all ad-hoc and overflow visits. This deposit is applied toward your final balance after the visit. Subscription bookings do not require a deposit — hours are deducted from your plan at the time of booking.
Travel
The first 20 km of travel from Shallow Lake (one way) is provided at no charge. Travel beyond 20 km is billed at $0.72/km (the CRA prescribed rate). For visits more than 50 km away, travel is charged both ways. Mileage incurred during the visit (e.g., driving you to an appointment) is billed at $0.72/km from your door, with no free-km allowance. Travel fees are not subject to HST.
Helper Assignment
You may request a preferred helper when booking. While we will do our best to honour your preference, we cannot guarantee helper availability. If your preferred helper is unavailable, we will offer an alternative or reschedule.
New Roots Gift Credits
New Roots is a promotional gift credit offered at BlueRobin's discretion. Credits are applied via a single-use promo link, which expires 30 days from generation. Once claimed, credits must be used within 45 days of the link generation date. Credits do not renew, carry over, or convert to monetary value. No deposit is required when booking with New Roots credits. Hours used beyond the gifted amount are subject to standard ad-hoc rates. If the 45-day window lapses, unused credits are forfeited automatically. BlueRobin reserves the right to revoke promotional credits where fraud or misuse is suspected.
Rescheduling
Rescheduling is free with more than 24 hours' notice. Rescheduling within 24 hours is treated as a late cancellation — your deposit is forfeited and a new deposit is required for the rescheduled visit.
Service Area
BlueRobin primarily serves Grey County and the Georgian Bay area, including Owen Sound, Meaford, Thornbury, Wiarton, Shallow Lake, and surrounding communities. Visits outside this area may be accommodated at our discretion — contact us to confirm availability.
Right to Decline
BlueRobin reserves the right to decline or discontinue service at its discretion, including situations involving unsafe working conditions, harassment of helpers, or requests that fall outside the scope of our services.
Credit Card & Data Security
Payment Processing
All payment card transactions are processed by Stripe, Inc., a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. BlueRobin never receives, transmits, or stores your full card number, CVV, or expiry date. When you enter your card details on our site, that information goes directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection — it never touches our servers.
What BlueRobin Stores
We store only your card brand (e.g., Visa, Mastercard) and the last four digits of your card number, solely for the purpose of displaying your saved payment method to you. This information cannot be used to process a payment on its own.
Saved Cards
If you choose to save a card to your account, a secure token issued by Stripe is stored in our database. This token allows us to charge your card for future visits without you needing to re-enter your details. You can remove your saved card at any time through the Account & Billing section of your portal. Removing your card immediately deactivates the token — no future charges can be made.
Encryption and Access
Our website is served exclusively over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). Our database is hosted on Supabase with row-level security policies — your data can only be accessed by you and authorized BlueRobin staff. Passwords are managed by Supabase Auth using industry-standard bcrypt hashing. BlueRobin staff never have access to your password.
Unauthorized Charges
If you believe an unauthorized charge has been made to your payment method, contact us immediately at hello@bluerobin.ca or (226) 898-3438. You should also contact your card issuer directly. BlueRobin will cooperate fully with any investigation.
Liability Disclaimer
Scope of Services
BlueRobin provides practical, non-medical support services. We are not responsible for outcomes related to medical conditions, health decisions, or situations that require a regulated health professional. If you or a family member has a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
Insurance
BlueRobin operates with personal insurance coverage. While our helpers take every reasonable precaution during visits, we are not a licensed home care agency and do not carry commercial general liability insurance. If you have concerns about coverage for specific tasks or high-value property, please discuss them with us before booking so we can assess whether the visit falls within the scope of what we can safely and appropriately provide.
Property
Our helpers take reasonable care with your property and belongings. In the event of accidental damage caused by a helper during the course of a visit, please notify us within 48 hours. We will work with you in good faith to resolve the matter, including through our insurance where appropriate. BlueRobin is not liable for pre-existing damage, normal wear and tear, or damage caused by circumstances outside the helper's control.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Ontario law, BlueRobin's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to our services shall not exceed the amount you paid to BlueRobin in the 30 days preceding the event giving rise to the claim. BlueRobin is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BlueRobin, its helpers, and its operators from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of our services, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
Force Majeure
BlueRobin is not liable for failure to perform services due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, road closures, acts of God, illness, or other emergencies. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you and reschedule as soon as possible.
